Summertown Woman Assaulted In Driveway

Law enforcement officials initiated an investigation Tuesday afternoon when a Summertown woman reported she had been assaulted inside her car.

The matter was reported to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department by a twenty-eight year old resident of Dukes Park Road.

The victim told deputies that she and her cousin, Micayla Donna Ferguson, age 18 of 104 Holloway Street, had been involved in an argument by telephone the previous evening. She said that she waited that day until Ferguson had left the premises, then went to the home so that her daughter could show her aunt a new hairstyle.

The victim said that she remained in her car, but that Ferguson returned, blocking her vehicle. She said that she was yelling, approached her vehicle, then punched her in the mouth through her open window.

The victim told deputies that Ferguson left when she placed a 911 call only to return a short time later. She said she was yelling and began to hit her car, frightening her children who were inside. The victim then left, meeting deputies at a nearby market.

When they spoke with Ferguson, deputies report she admitted she had become upset, walked up to the vehicle and punched the victim in the face.

Ferguson was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. She was jailed under one count of domestic assault and was held in lieu of a $1,000 bond.

Ferguson was scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on March 5, 2013.
